Yesterday, I hosted the class coffee for Abbie's class. 10 parents came to socialize. It was a really nice way to meet some of the other mothers (and dad). As class parent, I'm expected to host two of these social events a year, either at my house or at a restaurant. I'm also encouraged to host one whenever a new family comes so that they have a chance to get connected and meet some parents. I think it's a great idea!
Abbie also had a second playdate -- a girl from Argentina. She was born in Switzerland and has lived here except for a 2 year stint to New York, which appears to be the most popular expat city. Everyone seems to have lived in New York at some point in their career. Geez. I hope I didn't just jinx myself!
I figured as long as I was having random strangers into my house, I might as well invite all my blog readers in as well. So without further delay... pictures of my main living floor.

Great looking home. It's a bit strange seeing your furniture in your new house. I like the picture of you and Lucky on the patio. Did any of your guests give you any tips on working your appliances?
I thought it was funny that I showed up in the photo too! Wondered if anyone would notice...
I totally didn't think to ask about the appliances! I think I'm good except for the furnace which is supposed to already be programmed and unusual oven settings. I've got the convection setting down and I'm actually really enjoying it. Faster, more even cooking. What I really would like to ask someone is the recycling schedule. Everything has to get recycled and I'm not sure where it is all done. It looks like they only pick up papers ever month or two.
I love the forest view! It's beautiful
